How Technology is Helping Arizona Healthcare Leaders Prepare for COVID-19 Surges

The Arizona Surge Line, a new service for hospitals launched by the Arizona Department of Health Services, has been created to ensure COVID-19 patients receive appropriate inpatient placement throughout the state. This new transfer center operation utilizes a Microsoft-Azure-based platform powered by Central Logic that integrates data from EHRs and other information systems used by all of Arizona’s health systems. This technology enables visibility into provider availability, facility bed capacity, and inventories of critical medical equipment—guaranteeing faster access to care for patients.
